#AdlandPro Notice regarding the FTC Update

This AdlandPro notice regarding the  FTC update…

has been created to help all of you who are an affiliate of AdlandPro, who are bloggers and/or using social media to promote AdlandPro (or any other program you are in) to understand the FTC guidelines of how to promote and advertise ethically and legally.

The FTC update came out  March 13th and while these disclosures are not new laws, it is important to note that when it comes to marketing and advertising, the FTC Act continues ( and rightfully so) to prohibit “unfair or deceptive acts or practices”

What does that really mean?

When it comes to advertising, all ads must

  •  Be truthful
  •  Not Misleading
  •  If you are making a claim or comparing, you need to show evidence
  •  You need to be fair in everything you say

With the rise of social media marketing and people using mobile devises, the FTC update reflects these issues within their guidelines saying in part:

“How to Make Effective Disclosures in Digital Advertising, takes into account the expanding use of smartphones with small screens and the rise of social media marketing . . .
Like the original, the updated guidance emphasizes that consumer protection laws apply equally to marketers across all mediums, whether delivered on a desktop computer, a mobile device, or more traditional media such as television, radio, or print”

Spread this message far and wide, you will be helping your fellow marketers and helping yourself at the same time!
